This time we're going to be able to compete openly. I feel we should all be adult enough to vote for the best model instead of our friends. So with that being said... Please post your Progress Pictures here. Thank You, and Good Luck to all! Bill

I'll be the first to test the water here. For this project I used a ’41 Chevy Pickup and Tom Daniels Chevy Vandal. I cut off the rear fenders and bed of the P/U and cut the height, width and the front of the Vandal. Left the front out and glued together the box to the correct width for the P/U. I extended the running boards and glued the rear fenders to the box. Then I cut out the rear wall of the P/U and fit the box onto it. I will smooth it out with putty and prime it. I forgot to take pics of the van box in surgery. Dave

Really smart using the Vandal rear so well and the work shows anything can be combined to make a successful model! Camaro looks pretty detailed and work is looking very high quality. We'll await the next magic from all.

Looks like I'm up next. I started to build a frame for my entry. For the most part it's all 1/16" Evergreen rod. Like an idiot, I jumped in on building the frame with no real plan. Needless to say, I've reconstructed quite a few parts to get it to fit the body and to be square. The floorpan is .030, the clutch housing is .030 and .020. The seat bottom is .030 and the sides/back are .020, along the top outer edge I ran a strip of .060 half round, and the pleated upholstery is 1/8" half round. The side tins are .020 with .040 half round to represent a bead roll. The front wheel hoops are cut from 1/2" tube, the centers are made from 3/64" rod, 1/8" rod and whatever size tubing fits inside the 1/2" tube.

Dave, that hybrid looks great. It looks to me what the C-cab would have developed into had they made that body style in the 40's.
I can't wait to see more or Vyper's Camaro, I think that's the best body style of all the Camaros.

I cast a rear from a Swamp Rat 30, then filed it down a bit to get it to fit my frame. While I was fitting it, I decided to chop the whole back off the frame and redo it. I like how it came together so far. The two crossmembers in the back are glued only on one side to allow for removing and installing the rear. I made a dashboard with gauges, and have the steering wheel in place. The seat has to be reworked slightly as the floor pan now kicks up at the back which makes the seat sit too high. I bet you're saying " That doesn't look like a Chevy". Well it is a Chevy Show Rod and I'm taking the "Show Rod" out of it. Here's how the frame sits as of right now.

The work on the dragster is already more time spent than most of us put in on an entire build. It's a general lesson on how an idea can become a real model. With skill and time...who needs a kit? Great job.

I just got back from a great trip to Colorado and I'm back at the bench. I filled in the Vandal taillights and made ones that match the front lights. I think the body might be ready for the final black primer. I also finished the rear door. I need to figure out which way to hinge it. Dave
