I've had this kit in my stash for some time and this week decided to take a break from the 30s and 40s. I decided to do a two-tone nail polish paint job and made a trip to the local Dollar Store to find my favorite shade. Came up with these. I don't usually like low profile tires and wheels, but I do like these on this particular car so I will be using them. The frame and belly pan are molded together so it calls for some pretty intricate masking. I tried Silly Putty, but it does not seem to want to work for me. I should have the prep work done this morning and will get started painting. I will post more as appropriate. Hope you guys like this.

Russ: Here you go.. Overall I think all of the masking was worth the effort. I do think some subtle weathering is needed just to smooth things out though. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Turned out I wasn't happy with the look of the gray primer on the belly pan so I stripped and repainted. Here's how it turned out. I think the light green belly pan is much more subtle than the starkness of the gray primer against the black frame. Believe me though, it was a pain in the a** to strip and repaint this. I have made some progress on the interior also. Also have the body painted. Still needs polishing and a clear coat, but I think the two colors are good together. That's it for now. I'll have some more to post later in the week. I should get some quality time in the hobby room because it is supposed to start snowing tonight and continue until at least Sunday. Hot chocolate and modeling time!!

And a nice two tone to boot .... ;D ;D My wife is loaded with nail polish , I must try it , I know you really have to thin it a lot Steve: Nail polish is just a high grade laquer. This is my first try for a high gloss surface with nail polish, but it does seem to have worked. I thinned the polish with laquer thinner at about 1 to 3. That brought this polish to the consistancy of 2% milk. Then I shot it at about 25 psi. I learned that polish really does not shine, comes up more as a satin. To get a high gloss finish you must polish and then clear. Good luck with getting into your wife's stuff. Personally I wouldn't take the chance because mine can be dangerous. ;D ;D

Got the body polished and BMF applied. Then applied a Tamiya gloss clear. Unfortunately, the photos don't do justice to the finish. It is much, much glossier than it looks in the photos. The BMF was really tedious to apply. I forgot just how much chrome these Tri-Five Chevys had, in spite of owning a couple of them back in the day. ;D On to detailing the engine compartment...

Great colors! It's looking really good, nice stance and the BMF looks great. That must have sucked to have to remask the chassis.
