Chopped 32 ford

I had this 3 window 32 coupe body that I was going to sell. I saw john's chopped 32 and the more I looked at it, the more I convinced myself to try a chop. I usually have a problem with the clean up. We'll see how it goes this time. I'm feeling a bit confident this time around...hope this confidence isn't shattered in the next few day....here's what I've done so far...and yes I forgot to take pics of the starting body and the tape I used to measure the cuts.

Hey, yours is going to be even more radical than my chop. Love it. Do you intend for it to be a RAT or are you going to make it shiny??

Thank, John. I'm not sure where I'm going with this yet. I guess it'll depend on how well I can clean it up. If I manage to smooth it out I'll go with shiny new paint. The good thing is that if the body doesn't turn out good enough for. Show rod, I can change to a rat rod. Like I said I had the body laying around so ill have to go through my hot rod stash and find parts for it which I'm sure I have in one of the many bags or boxes. Haha.

Ok this is where I start to feel disappointed. I did a but of clean up and sprayed a coat of primer to check for flaws.....lots of them. Tomorrow ill set more filler in and start sanding the rest of the body.

Being your first chop.
You are doing a great job.
Hint for next chop. At center cut in roof.
Use a strip of plastic as thick as gap.
Glue in place from side to side. Shape to roof when dry.
Takes less filler and strengthens the roof back up..
Just a little suggestion to make it a little easier for ya.

Your chop is starting to take shape ;D
But instead of spreading on the putty with a ice cream stick.
Try using a strip off of a cereal box with the shiny side .
It will spread much easier ...

Thanks Steve-O. Actually used my finger to spread. Wore a glove, wet my finger tip and it went on smooth like butter. I'm going to have to try your tip though. Might save a few gloves.

I think the modification is complete. Now I'm not sure weather to spray some nice metallic paint or make it a rat rod......
