Reproducing a cast finish

On my current Jeep build I needed to cut off the engine mounts. This left a smooth finish on a cast looking engine block. I gave the area a liberal coat of MEK and while the plastic was still wet and soft, I pressed a cloth into it. It was almost invisible after it dried.
