I started looking on Ebay for the Mack Dumptruck, but was always outbid…..which isn’t surprising. So I figured, how hard is it to scratch build this? I used an RC Cola Wagon (Beer Wagon) for the base. I extended the frame and scratch built the dump. I couldn’t find the right proportioned tires so I took some tractor trailer tires and cut off the tread. I then shortened the tread to fit the diameter and of a piece of PVC pipe and super glued the tread onto it. I added some half round for the rim edge. I painted the pipe black with a chrome inside and added the wheels for the rear. I didn’t have a match for the front so I used wheels from the Lil Van.

Here's an update.
The chassis is basically finished except for a few odds & ends. It's rather heave duty so I added leaf and coil springs in the front. I wanted the front to sit up high. The engine is a 4 banger but I didn't want any cutouts in the hood.

I cut out the hood from the body and hinged it and added a firewall. I painted it a metallic red. I'll be adding some home made decals later.
