Once again, I opened a kit, looked at it a few minutes and started cutting. So I wasn't very diligent with taking pics. I'll try to catch you up real quick. First things first, I have a fear of plastic heights. So I decided to section an 1/8" out of the body and that big hump of a hood needed surgery. The tape line gives you an idea of the rough cut needed for the hood. Very subtle, but to me a marked improvement. To get the hood flattened out, three cuts were made about 3/4" long radiating out from the center point of the front of the hood's center section. Then just push down on the hood to flatten it. . I wanted the bed to be the back of an old 60's land cruiser with fins. I remembered a 58 T-bird body I had and started cutting. The Stormchicken was cut right at back of the doors to use for a bed. It was way too wide, first I narrowed the center section as much as I could without losing the look it had. I think about 3/16" was removed. Still to wide, I took 1/8" out of each side to bring it down to fit the 3100. The middle has been already cut, here are the remaining cuts to fit the new bed. As that was drying, I cut the nose off the bird about 3/8" back. Width wise, a 1/4" needed to be removed from Bird nose and bumper. I simply cut notches into to Chevy's fenders and the T-bird light just about fell into place with only one filler piece needed on each side. Next I cut the edge of the T-bird fenders off, sanded them to a taper and cemented them back in place on the truck fenders. I also cut the spears off the bird doors and put thm on the truck.

That's a big hole! Well that looks better. At this point, it needed some primer so I could see how it was developing. Looking at black and white really makes it hard to see. That would bring us up to the pics in the first post. I still had the open area behind the cab to deal with. I held off on this as I was deciding what to do with the roof. I was toying with the ides of a 4 seater and extending the roof, or a 4 seat Vert. I decided it was time to do some photo editing. A 3" chop came out the winner.

Your build is cool. BUT, after looking at your pics, with all of the surgery , & scars , so to speak, I think I would call this build "FRANKENSTEIN" ;D Keep us posted as you work your magic on this p/u.

I Cut the chassis down half it's height where the interior tub mounts to drop the frame a little more. I cut the angled tops from the bed along with the side braces, then shortened it up a bit before taping it in place on the frame. I then placed the whole deal into the body, and transferred the dimensions to the outside it. I cut it out and crossed my fingers I was close,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I was. ;D So the question is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Tonneau cover or trunk?

In my short time back in this hobby, the models I have started and finished have all been heavily modified. I sometimes have a plan and sometimes like this one, it's a matter of what's on hand when the saw comes out. One thing they all have in common so far, uncertain feeling that I might be building a disaster. Luckily, every build so far has another common point, when I look at the model and see "It". "It" is the vision I had or came up with during the build, it's the point where you sit back and go, "That looks GOOD!" This pic represents the "It" moment on this build. I'm now confident I've made the right choices on the modifications.

Your confidence in cutting is amazing! I'm less sure on rear end. It looks too much like the T-bird and just a bit weird. Still, I'm sure once you're done it'll look like a single creation. You are one FEARLESS builder, period! Thanks for the lessons and great pix!
