With the ‘30’s – ‘40’s look to them I thought I would try to make a hot rod V8 bug. I added the wheels and triple blower engine to see the proportions. I may not keep these set ups…or maybe I will. I made a radiator shell but I’m not sure it’s what I’m looking for. I don’t like the fact that it looks like a pig nose, but maybe I can remove that look and still keep the shape. The chassis is extended from the Beatnik Bandit. I’m debating whether or not to chop the roof. I will definitely add some extra pieces to the body to make it unique. All constructive criticism and suggestions welcome. Dave

Why don't you try triming the cut part on the nose clip, leaving the fenders on and mounting them like a roadster ?

OK, I dumped the "Pig nose" and made another out of a '57 vette front. I'm still not sure if this is the route I will take. I need something unique for this front end. I have seen ones with the old '30's radiators and the Rolls and '40 Ford fronts and I want something different. I will make the grill opening lower. I don't want it open that wide...it looks like it's yawning.....but it does have a European look though. Opinions are welcome. Dave

I like the shape of the new front end, suit it well. Maybe lower and flare the grille opening?

Thanks for the honest opinions guys. Here are a couple shots of the smaller grill opening. I thinks it looks better now.

It's been awhile since I posted. I have been really busy lately. I went to some classes for work in Florida and Mass. I also started beekeeping and set up my first hive. Really cool hobby and I didn't get stung yet. Ok, here is an update on the VW. I added the sunken taillights using two different sized tubes. The top will be the tail lights and the smaller ones on the bottom are the reverse lights. First I filled in the rear window and added 3 round holes but I didn't like it so I added louvers to the rear window that I think fit in pretty good. I also created a trunk space. I sanded off the sharp edged of the Monogram slicks so they are rounded. I think this gives a better look. I will finish them smoother.
