Custom 1949 Shoebox Ford

So I wanted to build something that it didn't have to finish by a certain deadline as it feels my last three builds have been that way for contests at Jerry's Cherry's. I had started this 49 last year but messed up the paint job a couple of times. First time sprayed Testors Aqua Blue but just couldn't get it to shine after some clearing, and buffing. Then I extended the front end with a custom piece from the 50 Ford kit and tried One coat lacquer's lightning white. My lack of patience took over and I sprayed a very thick layer of it......it you're thinking that it probably ran, you're right. Thick, fat blobs of paints all around the bottom of the body, and of course I knew that was going to happen as I was spraying it. Ugh! Figured third times a charm so here we go.

This time I figured I'd modify the body a little more to encourage me to take my time with it all. So far I removed trim, added skirts and blending them in, and changing the taillights. A couple of mock up to determine height and just throwing ideas around.

I figured since I was modifying the panel lines, I filled in the truck lines and will redo them in a different shape. Also added the taillights. Will make the them body color. Here's where I'm at.

So I laid some paint on it. Krylon rubbed bronze black is the color I think. Not too bad. Still thinking of red scallops though. Gonna let the clear dry, maybe some panel lines for the doors and try some. See what happens.

Sorry to disappoint Steve-O. This went to the pile after the paint started to chip when I started the panel lines. Will need to strip it and start over. Just not at this time.
