Actually I dubbed this Project "Renstall Adler" as it'll be quite sporty looking.... Here's how I'll try to make it look like when done: The decals are homemade and the checkered roof will be done using a homemade decal as well. It'll have GTI sport seats and maybe some tuning parts on the engine...? This is what I started with: I had to narrow the Wheels to go with stock front tires. 1 mm less offset and Another 1 mm was cut from the back!

I had to modify the front inner fenders as I'm moving the Engine upwards about 2".Where the red markings are, is where I took away material. Left side (upside down) Right side (upside down) I also modified the enginemounts. The one going forward towards the radiator had a "Z" done to it. The right side enginemount was extended about 3 mm but will be shorted a Little when times come to mount the Engine.

I changed all 4 tires and finally got the stance I was aiming for! Here's how it looks now: I put some putty to the gearbox. I modified the stock headers and put on an adapter plate for the Turbo I also modified the Turbo a Little to get the right look 8) I "sectioned" and narrowed the injectionpart to make it sit closer to the Engine :!: From a piece of scrapped radiator I made an intercooler

More pic's: I thinned the front break-discs I found out I'll have to modify one of the Engine-mounts I took some material away from the trailing arms up front to get the Wheels further in And, I started making my own 2,5" exhaust system Which led to the fact I had to widen the opening in the rear splash pan to allow Twin pipes...

More work... I had to cut some material away from the tranny to make space for the front Wheels when turning. As I've moved the inner fenders forward a bit, there would be a "gap" against the interior. I made a small shelf from plastc card: One of the enginemounts wasn't up to my satisfaction so I redid it :

I put some good old Humbrol #56 on certain Engine-parts: I also turned the battery 90 degrees wich actually look better IMHO. The holes in the fenders will be covered using very thin plastic card or maybe paper??? I resprayed the Engine semiflat black: I also started modifying the lower front pan. First a Picture of how it's supposed to look: Here's how it looks right now, the black spots are to be drilled with a 0.6 mm drill:

I reduced the length of the housing for the Electric fan to make more room in the Engine-bay: But even so, it'll be a snug fit with all the engineparts in Place:

I really love the "Golf" (Rabbit) models. Thank you so much. It's a lesson in how one modification leads to another. I always had planned to some day do a couple of these old AMTs, one as a legitimate Rally car and one as a Euro "sedan" racer that was in one of the series in Europe. Thanx a bunch for the hard work you put in.

Thanx for the "how to" on this model. I don't know why, but I've always luvved the VW enconbox. The careful job to lower the suspension a more correct way than just remounting the wheels higher in the wheel wells is appreciated. Adding turbo/intercooler is neat too. Lookin' very good so far, thanx!
