I recently became aware that Hermann Goering, #2 man in Nazi Germany, owned a Mercedes-Benz 540K Roadster. Near the end of the war the car was captured by a unit of the 101st Airborn (the "Band of Brothers"). The car was eventually sold to a corporation in the UK where I believe it still is. I am going to build this kit as a replica of the "Blue Goose", a nick-name given it by the 101st. Unfortunately, the chassis is a "short shot" and is missing the support for the three piece rear bumper. I have another kit on the way and hopefully this will not delay things too much. In the meantime I will be doing the prep on this. I will post more as the build develops.

Very cool project! There's a book: "Mercedes Benz Parade And Staff Cars of the Third Reich" by the author Blaine Taylor , which shows some nice pictures of Goerings M-B! Unfortunately the book is quite hard to find and very expensive when found....

Chromecop: Thanks for the info. I looked the book up on Amazon and you are right about the price. The least expensive is $136 used. Afraid it's out of my price range. Thanks anyway.

The second kit arrived today and guess what---THE #@^^%&*()%$ THING IS A SHORT SHOT IN THE SAME PLACE!!!! To top things off Amazon can't exchange it as it is now out of stock. I guess the Blue Goose will have to wait for a time.
