Hey fellas. I've been buildin' my first gasser, a Willys, and I thought I'd post some WIP's. As much as I love old drag cars, this will be the first build I finish. For those who remember, the AWB Falcon is still in the works, just givin' me some headaches. I tried to keep this Willys as close to box-stock as possible so it wouldn't take me forever to complete. I did shorten the traction bars and make frame mounts. I also made new shock mounts for the rearend. Shocks are in the works. I scratched the left header, workin' on the right one. No paint yet. The motor so far. I shortened the breathers(?). Aluminum pulleys from Scale Repros Plus & JB Hobbies. Still lookin' for cogged blower belts!

That looks good with that big ol' blown hemi. Looks like the Revell kit, they go together well, i've built a few. Any decal ideas yet?

Thanks noodles. It will probably be a fictitious car. I'm still undecided on the 3 choices of color I have.

Hey fellas...a small update to The Willys. Got some lines run, an overflow tank, the zoomies, oil filters (gotta plumb 'em yet, etc. Painted the zoomies white. On the P, P, & C car they look aluminized, which for the life of me, I couldn't even come close. All my attempts looked like silver paint, so I gave up and went white. Gimme the good, the bad and the ugly.

Hey Russ. I had to re-do the front of the engine. Removed the radiator-didn't realize the car didn't have one, canned the water pump, repainted the zoomies with Krylon Matte Aluminum which dried shiny. A couple mist coats of Satin Clear and they are close to that aluminum look I wanted. Now going with the crank-driven fuel pump. This is why builds take me so damn long to complete.
